On May 22, 2025, the 4th Baosteel Non oriented Silicon Steel Application Technology Conference was held in Chengdu. Four new high-performance non oriented silicon steel products were globally launched on site, including a very thin specification of extremely low iron loss high magnetic induction non oriented silicon steel, which is the world's first product with an iron loss value less than 9 watts/kilogram. This product will greatly improve the performance and efficiency limit of high-speed motors, and can be widely used in fields such as humanoid robots and low altitude aircraft in the future.


Non oriented silicon steel is the most widely used soft magnetic alloy and the core material of generators and motors. Its electromagnetic properties play a critical role in motor efficiency. As the core material driving the low-carbon economy and society, Baosteel's non oriented silicon steel has shown the best comprehensive advantages in the fields of new energy vehicles, industrial motors, household appliances, power generation equipment, low altitude and robots due to its excellent high magnetic induction, low iron loss and processing performance, and has gained popularity both domestically and internationally.


The four new products released this time are B15AHV950M, B10AHV900M, B50AM250, and 65WY600. Among them, the thickness of B10AHV900M and B15AHV950M are 0.10 millimeters and 0.15 millimeters respectively. Especially, B10AHV900M, a breakthrough non oriented silicon steel product, is even thinner than an A4 paper. At the same time, its iron loss value is extremely low, which means that the material has extremely low energy loss in high-frequency alternating magnetic fields, breaking the industry's long-standing barrier of 9 watts/kilogram (under 1.0 Tesla 400Hz magnetization). In addition, it has high magnetic permeability, with a magnetic polarization intensity of 1.66 Tesla at a magnetic field strength of 5000 A/m, making it the world's highest magnetic performance. It is understood that the inability to achieve both "ultra-thin specifications" and "ultra-high performance" has always been a bottleneck problem that limits the performance improvement of non oriented silicon steel, as well as a challenge that restricts the development of various motor industries. Although there are steel companies worldwide that can produce 0.1mm non oriented silicon steel, there have been no products that can simultaneously achieve the above three indicators. The B10AHV900M and B15AHV950M products have the advantage of "improving vehicle driving efficiency and extending range", and will be the best materials for new energy vehicle drive motors.


B50AM250 grade non oriented silicon steel is a benchmark product used in the ultra high efficiency industrial motor industry. Its unique ultra-low loss, ultra-high magnetic induction, and extremely excellent anti shear magnetic degradation function have been successfully used to manufacture the world's first IE6 super first level energy efficiency motor and currently the world's highest energy efficiency level green motor.


65WY600 grade non oriented silicon steel is the flagship product of the hydropower industry and an important material to meet the transformation of the pumped storage generator industry from fixed speed to variable speed. It fills the key material gap of pumped storage variable speed generators. Its high strength, excellent electromagnetic performance, environmentally friendly coating and other characteristics help the power grid provide high-quality power supply.
